This week we''ll be looking into the work of Woods Empire.
Coming from Diamond Bar, California (East Los Angeles), the Woods family consisting of Tommy Woods and his sisters Linda, Iris, Rhonda & Judith Woods were all signed to Tabu Records in 1981.
The Woods first and only LP "Universal Love" has had some key players in its production. The names of such artists included in the project include Paulinho Da Costa (Percussionist), John Barnes, Paul Jackson Jr, Ollie Brown (Ollie & Jerry), Nathan Watts, Clarence McDonald, and Dave Crawford.
Despite having very little commercial success, the Woods family has surpassed the test of time as their "Universal Love" LP is highly sought after as a prime example of '80s funk and soul.

Last week...
We took a look of the sounds that were coming straight out of New York. With so many different prominent Record Labels that were homed in New York, the city provided a plethora of new types of disco-sounds and progressive song writting that would soon create some timeless classics that still hold their weight today.Â
We look into the record labels such as Silver Cloud, Vogue, Radar Records, and Jive Records which were all prominent record companies that were instrumental (quite literally) in the advancement of dance/disco music in 1980's New York City.
